How do I record running or cardio workouts?

Bevel currently supports strength workouts only on the watch.

For cardio (running, cycling, etc.):

  • Use your Apple Watch workout app

Why do I keep seeing “Overtraining”?

Cardio Load requires ~6 weeks of data to calibrate.

If you recently started:

  • Your Resting Heart Rate baseline may not be established yet

  • The metric may appear inaccurate until calibration completes

Why don’t I see Heart Rate Recovery (HRR)?

HRR is only calculated when:

  • Your workout reaches Zone 4 or higher

This ensures the data reflects meaningful cardiovascular effort.

How do I change my Apple Watch layout?

The watch app mirrors your phone layout.

  • Any changes on your phone → reflected on your watch

How do I delete an activity?

To delete an activity:

  • Open the activity

  • Tap the top right menu → Delete

Note:

  • This only removes it from Bevel and Apple Health

  • It will still exist in other third party apps

Can I edit the distance or duration of a completed run?

It depends on how the activity was logged.

  • Activities logged manually in Bevel using Log Activity or Strength Builder can be edited, including the distance and duration.

  • Activities imported from external integrations (such as Apple Health, Garmin, or other connected services) cannot be edited in Bevel.

How does Bevel calculate 1 Rep Max?

We use your set's weight, reps, and Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE), which indicates how close you were to reaching failure.

We use an RPE-based formula when:

  • You did 1–12 reps, and

  • The set was RPE 7–10

This formula adjusts for both:

  • Reps: more reps at the same weight suggests a higher 1RM.

  • Effort: a higher RPE suggests a higher 1RM, since you were closer to failure.

For example, 100 lb for 8 reps at RPE 9 estimates a higher 1RM than 100 lb for 8 reps at RPE 7.

We use the Epley formula when:

  • The set was below RPE 7, or

  • You did more than 12 reps

Epley uses only weight and reps: Estimated 1RM - weight x (1 + reps / 30)

We use Epley for easier or higher-rep sets because RPE adjustments can make those estimates unrealistically high. Reps are capped at 20, and RPE is capped between 1 and 10.
