Data Sources Troubleshooting

Why am I missing my overnight vitals (RHR, HRV) when using Apple Watch only (Bevel + Entire Sleep setup)

There are a few common reasons why your overnight vitals may be missing. Please follow the steps below to verify:

1. Check if Low Power Mode is enabled

If Low Power Mode is turned on, your Apple Watch may not record HRV and RHR during sleep.

Try disabling Low Power Mode and check again the next day.

2. Verify your data in Apple Health

Bevel relies entirely on Apple Health data, so it’s important to confirm that the data is actually being recorded.

For HRV:

  • Go to Apple Health → Heart Rate Variability

  • Scroll down and tap “Show All Data”

  • Select today’s date

  • Check if there are enough HRV data points recorded during sleep period

Note: Bevel uses Beat-to-Beat Measurements. If you’re using the Bevel method (rMSSD), the app also applies data cleaning to filter out noisy samples.

For RHR:

  • Go to Apple Health → Heart Rate

  • Scroll down and tap “Show All Data”

  • Select today’s date

  • Check if there are sufficient heart rate data points recorded during sleep period

Instead of using your RHR data point, Bevel uses your Average Heart Rate during sleep instead.

Why am I missing my overnight vitals (RHR, HRV) when using Apple Health (Entire Day / Entire Sleep settings)?

Make sure the data exists in Apple Health:

  • Missing HRV: Go to Apple Health → HRV → Show All Data → Today Confirm there are HRV data points logged

  • Missing RHR: Go to Apple Health → Resting Heart Rate → Show All Data → Today Confirm there is an RHR value recorded

Important to note for RHR

If you’re using Apple Health as your source, it’s recommended to set: “Use RHR From” → Entire Day

This is because Apple logs RHR randomly throughout the day, so using “Entire Sleep” may not always capture enough data.

If everything looks correct in Apple Health but the data is still missing in Bevel, feel free to reach out with screenshots to hello@bevel.health and we can take a closer look.

Why am I missing my overnight vitals (RHR, HRV),when using devices other than an Apple Watch (e.g., Helio Strap, etc.)?

Note the recommended setup For RHR and HRV is Apple Health + Entire Day. If you are still experiencing issues follow these steps:

  • Make sure your Sleep, RHR, and HRV data are present in Apple Health.

  • In Bevel → Profile → Data Sources, ensure your device is selected as a source for RHR and HRV.

Please note that your device will only appear as a data source in Bevel if it is already syncing and writing data to Apple Health.

If everything looks correct in Apple Health but the data is still missing in Bevel, feel free to reach out with screenshots to hello@bevel.health and we can take a closer look.

Why is Garmin data not updating?

Garmin does not sync continuously in real time.

To update your data:

  • Open the Garmin Connect app to force a sync

Why is Garmin historical data missing?

Garmin only allows syncing up to 1 month of historical data.

Make sure historical sync is enabled during setup.

Why am I seeing a blank or blocked page when trying to log in to Garmin?

If the Garmin login page is blocked, it’s likely because you’re using an outdated version of iOS. Please update your iOS and try again.

Why is the Garmin integration not working properly?

Try reconnecting the integration:

  1. Go to Settings → Data Sources → Garmin

  2. Remove the integration

  3. Reconnect and enable historical data

  4. Resync your data

Why do I have duplicate or overlapping Garmin Data in Bevel?

Why This Happens

Garmin can send data to Bevel directly through the Garmin integration and indirectly through Apple Health.
If both are active, Bevel may receive the same workout or sleep entry twice.

Recommended Setup

If you’ve connected Garmin Connect™ directly to Bevel, we recommend turning off the Garmin Connect data source inside Bevel to avoid duplicates.
This update was also included in our recent patch release notes.

How to Connect Garmin to Bevel (Correct Setup)

  1. Go to Settings → Data Sources → Add Integration

  2. Tap Garmin Connect™ and sign in

  3. Sync up to 1 month of historical data

  4. If you use multiple Garmin devices, choose which ones to show or hide under Data Sources (Sleep, Workouts, etc.)

  5. If Garmin Connect previously wrote data to Apple Health, disable that feature to avoid overlap

How to Disable Garmin Connect as a Data Source in Bevel

To prevent duplicate workout entries:

  1. Open Bevel

  2. Go to Profile

  3. Tap Data Sources

  4. Select Workouts

  5. Choose Hide Data Source

  6. Add Garmin Connect to your hidden sources

This ensures Bevel only pulls data from the correct channel.

Why isn’t Strava syncing workouts to Bevel?

Strava integration is one-way:

  • Bevel → Strava

To import workouts:

  • Allow Strava to write to Apple Health

Note: Heart rate data may still not transfer.

Why am I not seeing Oura data?

How to fix it

  1. Open the Oura app

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Tap Back up all data

  4. Reopen Bevel

Why this happens

Data sync flow: Oura Ring → Oura App → Oura Cloud → API → Bevel

If data isn’t uploaded to Oura’s cloud, Bevel cannot access it.

Why do I see gaps in Stress or Energy Bank (Oura)?

Oura does not collect data continuously throughout the day, especially during periods of low movement. This can result in visible gaps.

Why Am I Experiencing CGM Issues?

If your glucose data is not syncing, try reconnecting:

Step 1: Reconnect in Bevel

  1. Open Bevel.

  2. Tap your initials or profile picture in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Manage CGM.

  4. Disconnect.

  5. Reconnect.

Step 2: Reset Apple Health Permissions

  1. Open Apple Health.

  2. Tap Sharing Tab.

  3. Select Apps.

  4. Tap Bevel.

  5. Tap Turn Off All or toggle off Blood Glucose.

  6. Tap Turn On All or toggle on Blood Glucose.

Why do I have missing or incomplete data after upgrading my device?

If you recently upgraded your device and noticed that some of your data hasn’t fully restored, here’s what you need to know.

Why This Happens

When setting up a new device, iCloud can take 24–48 hours, and in some cases even longer, to fully restore all app data.
Unfortunately, iCloud does not always transfer every piece of data reliably — this is a known issue on Apple’s side.

What You Can Do

Option 1: Wait for iCloud to Finish Restoring

If your upgrade was recent, give iCloud up to 48 hours to complete the transfer.
Data may still be syncing in the background.

Option 2: Perform a Full Reset and Use Phone-to-Phone Transfer

If data still hasn’t appeared after waiting:

  1. Reset your new device

  2. Choose the phone-to-phone transfer method during setup

  3. Avoid relying solely on iCloud for app data transfer

This method is more reliable and often fixes missing data issues.

What We're Doing About It

While this is an Apple-related issue, we’re actively working on migrating Bevel’s data handling away from iCloud to prevent this problem in the future.
