Sleep Common Questions
How does the Sleep Score work?
Your Sleep Score is a percentage (0–100%) that summarizes your sleep quality and efficiency each night.
Scores are categorized as follows:
Poor sleep: below 70%
Fair sleep: 70%–85%
Excellent sleep: above 85%
What goes into your Sleep Score?
Time Asleep: Compared to your personal sleep goal, more sleep (within range) improves your score.
Sleep Stages: Balanced time in Light, REM, and Deep Sleep.
Heart Rate Dip: A larger drop in heart rate during sleep indicates deeper, more restorative sleep.
Sleep Efficiency: The percentage of time spent actually sleeping.
Sleep Continuity: How uninterrupted your sleep was.
Tracking your Sleep Score over time helps you identify patterns and improve long-term sleep quality.
Why is my sleep score so different from other apps?
Different apps use different algorithms. Bevel calculates sleep with its own factors and weighting, so scores won’t match others. You can view more about Sleep Score here.
Why is my Sleep Score low?
A lower Sleep Score is usually caused by one or more of the following:
Elevated Resting Heart Rate (RHR) compared to your baseline
Lower Heart Rate Variability (HRV) than usual
Less REM or Deep Sleep than normal
Not enough total sleep compared to your goal
Smaller Heart Rate Dip during the night
Frequent wake-ups or interruptions
Improving sleep consistency, duration, and recovery habits can help raise your score.
How do naps affect my Sleep Score?
Naps do not directly impact your Sleep Score, as the score only considers your primary (overnight) sleep.
However, naps can:
Help reduce sleep debt
Lower how much sleep you need the following night
Where can I find detailed sleep metrics?
You can view detailed sleep data in your Primary Sleep activity:
From the Home Timeline, or
Go to Sleep Score → Scroll down → Primary Sleep
Metrics include:
Sleep Efficiency
Sleep Continuity
Heart Rate Dip
Sleep Stages
Time Asleep
Graphs include:
Sleeping Heart Rate
Sleeping Heart Rate Variability
Sleeping Respiratory Rate
Sleeping SpO₂
Why does it show a nap when I didn’t take one?
Bevel does not directly track sleep or naps, it reads data from Apple Health.
To check:
Open Apple Health → Sleep Score → Sleep
Scroll down and tap “Show All Data”
Review which app or device logged the entry
Incorrect nap data usually comes from another connected app or device.
How do I manually add sleep data?
You can manually add sleep in Bevel:
Go to Sleep
Scroll to the timeline
Tap the “+” button
You can add:
Sleep sessions for the current day
Naps
Important notes:
You cannot add full overnight sleep from previous nights
Naps within ~15 minutes of your main sleep may merge into that session
For full control, you can also log sleep directly in Apple Health.
How do I turn off snooze on the sleep alarm?
When your alarm is ringing:
Open the Bevel Watch app
Tap “Stop” instead of “Snooze”
Why isn’t my Sleep Score improving?
This can happen if:
Your sleep duration is inconsistent
HRV or RHR trends are off baseline
Sleep interruptions are frequent
Focus on:
Consistent sleep schedule
Reducing disturbances
Improving recovery habits (stress, hydration, nutrition)
How can I increase the haptic strength on the alarm?
On your watch, open the Alarm and tap the three dots in the top right corner. Once an alarm is set, scroll down to the Alarm Haptic section and choose your preferred intensity.
Options include: Progressive, Gentle, Medium, and Intense.
